Founded back in 1786, Can Culleretes can boast to be the oldest restaurant in Catalonia (and second oldest in Spain, behind famous Lhardy in Madrid).
This alone might make you think it's worth the visit. But, queuing like you would in a rock concert perhaps is not your ideal of a charming evening.
Now crowded with locals and tourists, the place, as you would expect, is full of history, with the walls literally covered with photos of famous people from other eras, very few we'd recognise today.
The organisation is good, the service quick but not very polite.
Somehow one could be reminded of Chartier restaurant in Paris, but Can Curelletes lacks its kitsch glamour. You'll eat traditional Catalan dishes here, without experimentation.
The wine list is far from satisfactory, and the service of the wines too. In fact, once visited it's not worth a return.
