Unfortunately, Amaya restaurant is not what it used to be. I remember going there with my grandparents, fans of this restaurant and L'Havana, or Agut in nearby Gignàs street. There are certain things that can't be forgiven, and two over-salty dishes in a meal is beyond what can be tolerated.
With not a little hope, I asked for the classical Basque txangurro donostia style, and I could only swallow it with a mouthful of the Gran Viña Sol we had ordered (the wine list is completed, although the prices are high).
The cod was salty as well, and that masks the rest of the meal, regular in all other aspects.
The local is now frequented by tourists looking for sangria, which is a shame. It has lost all the glamour that it had some years ago. Perhaps we had bad luck, but there's little opportunity for second chances thesedays...
